In what ways can a life coach be useful? Basically, I can help with most areas of
your life that you would like to improve. Common reasons for seeking assistance
include:
- improving time management
- decluttering and stopping accumulation
- improving relationship skills personally and professionally
- organizing home and/or office (both in space and responsibilities), and
- improving your health and life satisfaction
Time Management
Do you find you're late quite often? Maybe just a little or maybe by a lot?
Timeliness affects how others perceive you—be it at work or in social and
personal situations. A boss might not find you reliable and may overlook you for
a promotion. The daycare center may charge you more money for picking up
your children late and may decide to not offer their services to you any more.
Friends or family may tire of your schedule and stop inviting you to get-
togethers.
If you're running late as a habit, others might get the impression (rightly or
wrongly) that you're rushing all the time because you're not organized, can't
prioritize and are not responsible. Or worse, the other person simply thinks you
don't care. They don't feel important to you so they don't want to associate
with you any more.
If you want to leave a good impression, timeliness is one of the surest ways to
achieve this. People will assume you're organized and responsible. More
importantly you will be conveying to the others that you respect them, that you
value your time with them and that you care about them. These impressions are
invaluable to success in your personal and professional life. You really can't
afford not to take advantage of a life coach!
Declutter
Do you find you can't pass up a department store sale, a yard sale or a deal of
any kind? Does it go hand in hand with not being able to throw things out?
Perhaps you find it hard to let got of clothes, furniture or any other items due
to their memories or potential usefulness?
If this is the case, you probably have already experienced a few ways your
habits have affected your life. Spending might be out of control and you may be
racking up debt on credit cards beyond a manageable amount. Your house may
also be filling up beyond a manageable amount. This limits your freedom within
our own house as well as your social freedom. Because of the excess clutter you
may find yourself avoiding inviting friends over or avoiding friends altogether.
If any part of this description feels like it fits what's happening to you, then you
could benefit from some coaching interventions before things escalate to
intolerable levels.
Spending
Do you have only a general idea of where your money goes? Do you make
guesses about your bank account balances based on your ATM receipts and
when you get paid? Do you find if you need to return something, you can't find
the receipt? Maybe you rack up late charges on your utility or credit card bills
because you didn't pay them on time? These habits are not serving you well! Do
you know that the credit card companies can talk to each other? So, if you are
often late making payments on one card, not only will that credit card company
raise your interest rate, but the other credit card that you are making timely
payments on can raise your interest rate too!
The bottom line is that you can't afford to let your money habits get out of
control. You'll end up paying for your poor habits with higher interest rates on
credit cards and loans as well as lower credit ratings. This can create what is
called perpetual debt—where you make the minimum payments but never lower
your balances. This will affect all kinds of decisions in your life as well as your
ability to live on your own, pay for your car, take a vacation or simply go out to
dinner.
Getting the assistance of a life coach can be invaluable, so you can more
thoughtfully and consciously take care of your finances. The more control you
have over your money, the better you can relax and enjoy life!
Relationships
Do you find you have difficulty making yourself understood? Maybe others
misunderstand your intentions or they just don't seem to listen to you. As a
result it's hard to get on the same page with your spouse, coworker, friend or
boss. This can result in anger, defensiveness, frustration, hurt and/or
disappointment—none of which feels good or helps you get what you want.
Relationships and communication go hand in hand. So if you're experiencing
frustration in any of your relationships, chances are you need to improve your
communication. This doesn't just apply to how you speak but what you say and
how you follow through. If you are not communicating well, then you don't
stand much of a chance of getting your needs met personally or professionally.
Working with a life coach can provide the objectivity and feedback needed to
clarify your personal and professional goals. Clarity can eliminate many struggles
and help you get on the same page as your partner. Not only can success be
more accessible but ridding yourself of the anger, hurt and defeat opens the
way for greater satisfaction and happiness in all areas of your life!
Health and Life Satisfaction
If you're like most people, you have a lot of demands in your life—taking care of
job, kids, house, errands, shopping, cleaning, social obligations and personal
commitments. All this probably leaves you little time to care for yourself. As we
get older and the responsibilities become more and more, our health, diet and
exercise often fall off the priority list. We may let ourselves be driven by
urgency and crisis management rather than thoughtful planning. But good health
care is not the same as crisis management.
Being directed by urgency is exhausting and stressful. Studies about the
negative consequences of stress are everywhere. Stress can be linked to heart
attacks, strokes, insomnia, depression, anxiety and an overall unhappiness with
